Number of ordinary sessions of parliament per year
the standing orders and rules of the national assembly defines a session as a period commencing with the first sitting of the assembly after its prorogation or dissolution at any time, and terminating when the assembly is next prorogued or dissolved without being prorogued, whichever event is the earlier.
therefore, we have a number of sittings in a year as opposed to sessions.
