A women's caucus was first established in 2002 AD (2058 BS) to initiate the implementation of women's rights through state policies and programmes. The last Women's Caucus was the successor to this first caucus and was established on 2 January 2009 with the 197 women members of the Constituent Assembly.

-Ensure women's rights and welfare in the new constitution by functioning actively and effectively with a common perspective on the basis of mutual goodwill and understanding.
-Stand for the protection of the welfare of the women during legislature-parliament discussions and move forward in the direction of amending the existing laws to update them and at the same time formulate new laws as per need of the hour.
