Activities
Issues dealt with by the caucus
The AWLFI works to advance the women's legislative agenda. It lobbies for the passage of legislative initiatives to strengthen the position of women and the welfare of children in society, such as the Magna Carta for Women, the Anti-Violence against Women and Children Act and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act. The caucus works to ensure that legislation and draft bills seeking to strengthen the position of women and the welfare of children in the community are properly heard and acted upon.
In 2019, House Bill Number 2810 is under discussion to establish resource development and crisis centers for women and children across the country, especially for victims of abuse.
Each year, it is tradition for the AWLFI to host an all-women session, in partnership with the House committee on women and gender equality.
