Note on the Distribution of seats according to sex
There were 18 women out of 100 senators elected in March 2019.
After 8 additional senators were elected on 19 May, the number of women rose to 23.
In addition, the former elected President of the Republic, Mr. Joseph Kabila, is senator for life.
Thus, as at 21 June 2019, out of 109 senators—which is the full number of elected senators—23 were women.
