Reserved seats and quotas

There are reserved seats in parliament for certain groups Reserved seats are a means to ensure the parliamentary representation of certain groups in society.

Notes
Legislated candidate quotas. In their candidate lists for elections to the Legislative Assembly, political parties must ensure that at least 30% of their candidates are women. Both candidates and alternates should collectively contribute to meeting this percentage. Political parties that do not comply with this provision will be fined between 15 and 55 basic salaries, and will have 15 days to correct their list according to what the law stipulates.
