The Speaker of Parliament is elected by the Members of Parliament. The Speaker may either be an incumbent Member of Parliament or anyone who is qualified to be elected as a Member of Parliament. If a Member of Parliament is elected Speaker, their seat in Parliament becomes vacant. If anyone else is elected Speaker, they do not become a Member of Parliament as a result.
