Reserved seats and quotas

There are reserved seats in parliament for certain groups Reserved seats are a means to ensure the parliamentary representation of certain groups in society.

Notes
An amendment to the Constitution establishes a 30% quota for women in all elected and appointed positions at the national level, particularly in the civil service. The amended Constitution also provides for the development of legislation to apply this quota to the political parties. Such legislation is under development but has not established an electoral formula to this effect.
