Note on the Chairman of the new legislature:
The Vice-President of the Republic is also the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. The Vice-President is indirectly elected by members of both chambers of parliament every five years.
Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar was elected on 6 August 2022 and was sworn in as the Vice-President on 11 August, thereby becoming the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
