In 1996, a commission for Women, Youth, and Family Affairs was established in the Iranian Parliament, but it was later dissolved and merged into the Cultural Commission. In 2000, female representatives formed a faction dedicated to women's rights. This Women's Faction is a cross-factional, all-female parliamentary group that advocates for women's, youth, and family rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
