Daily allowance (3,500 euros per month), lump-sum reimbursement for general expenses (1,650 euros per month), and reimbursement of expenses for the exercise of the mandate (divided into a monthly quota of 2,090 euros - subject to quarterly reporting - and an additional quota of 2,090 euros per month paid as a flat rate).

In addition, members receive personal passes for travel within the national territory, by air, rail and sea travel and for travel on the motorway network (with the introduction of an annual ceiling for air and rail travel in 2010).

Senators also received an "end of term allowance," which is equal to 80 percent of the gross monthly amount of the allowance, multiplied by the number of years of effective mandate. This allowance is paid on the basis of contributions entirely paid by the Senators, from whom 6.7 percent of the gross allowance is withheld monthly.
