Names of the basic allowances

All MPs -- despite their position held in the Seimas -- are entitled to the same sum to cover expenses related to their parliamentary activities in the amount of 0.8 average monthly earning (AME) – i.e. 1 219 EUR each month. The sum may cover, for instance, office, postal, telephone, transport (i. e., services of taxi and public transport and expenses related to the use by MP of own vehicle) and other expenses related to parliamentary activities. It may also be used for foreign travel approved by the Board of the Seimas when expenses are not reimbursed by an inviting institution. All expenses require justification and are subject to accounting rules.
