Other notes on the elections

Note on the statutory number of members of the Senate:

In May 2018, the National Assembly and the Senate adopted constitutional amendments merging the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The amendments abolished eight Senate seats for FATA upon expiry of the incumbent senators’ terms.

The statutory number of members of the Senate was reduced by eight in two phases: from 104 to 100 after the half renewal in March 2021; and from 100 to 96 after the half renewal in April 2024.
