Description: This dataset contains data by age of parliamentarians at the start of the new legislature, following elections or renewal of the chamber. Data is aggregated by age brackets (18–20, 21–30, 31–40, 41–45, 46–50, 51–60, 61–70, 71–80, 81–90, 91 and over) and disaggregated by sex. Data may not be available for all members of a parliamentary chamber. The total number of members for whom data is available is indicated in the dataset. Coverage is >98% of members, on average. IPU does not publish data on the age of individual parliamentarians, except for Speakers, Chairs of committees, and for the youngest and oldest member
